Chinese President Xi Jinping held a telephone conversation with Zambia’s counterpart, Edgar Lungu, and discussed how the two countries can continue to support each other in the fight against coronavirus.

President Jinping noted that the virus has caused a serious crisis and remains a big test for the world.

He told President Lungu that in the face of the epidemic, the two countries should “stand firm and stand together, and stand together and fight side by side.”

“African countries including Zambia have given us valuable support in China’s fight against the epidemic,” he said.

He also said that China has been providing material assistance, sharing experience in prevention and control, and helping African countries improve their ability and control.

“I have repeatedly called for increased support for African countries. China is stepping up the implementation of the relevant measures and will continue to do its best to support African countries such as Zambia in their efforts to fight against the disease and restore economic and social development,” Jinping said.

He also requested President Lungu to support Chinese citizens in Zambia.

Langu said that Zambia values China’s friendship and thanks to China for the valuable support given to Zambia’s economic development over the years.

He lauded Jinping’s initiative of China-Africa solidarity against the pandemic.
