A Chinese company has signed a concession agreement with government to grow bamboo in the country for industrial use on a large scale.
East Africa Bamboo Forest Industry Limited will plant, manage and harvest around 2,300 hectares of bamboo in Kigali, Bugesera, Ngoma and Rwamagana districts.
The company will set up a bamboo processing factory in Kicukiro distdistrict, locally manufacture various products.
Products will include toilet paper and other sanitary products, construction materials such as marine board and ply-wood for sale in local and export markets.
The agreement was signed on Monday December 7, at Rwanda Development Board (RDB).
