Robert Kyagulanyi the Presidential candidate under the National Unity Platform NUP on Tuesday arrived in Koboko district where he was welcomed by a massive rally of supporters most of whom donned the red-white party colours.
'Koboko! What can i say? The Main gate to Koboko is broken and wide open. The people are yearning for change. They say they have been betrayed enough and are ready to take a stand. A new Uganda will see Koboko shine like a star! Awadifor,' a mesmerized Bobi Wine said later.
However, on Monday candidate Kyagulanyi was forcefully driven out of Terego District by the Residence District Commissioner, police and the military, 'We drove for a whole 2hrs to Maracha to find accommodation only to find that all hotels have been ordered not to host us.'
'After our last meeting in Terego, the RDC ordered us out of the district. We decided to drive & sleep in Maracha ahead of our meeting. After one and a half hours drive, we found all hotels in Maracha ordered not to host us! Now heading to Arua to look for accommodation,' Kyagulanyi said.
He noted, 'We decided to drive to Arua to find accommodation but the police and military has yet again blocked us at the bridge without giving any reason. We are now stuck, very tired, hungry and of course angry.'
Incumbent President and candidate Yoweri Museveni of the Ruling National Resistance Movement party is currently on Day Two of our Ankole sub-region campaigns. He is expected to meet NRM leaders in Bushenyi district and thereafter address our people through radio and TV.
Museveni is campaigning under the slogan 'Securing your Future'. On Monday he was in Mbarara district for his first leg in Ankore region. He met with youth leaders of Western Uganda at Boma Grounds in Mbarara City.
He also met with party leaders of Buhweju, Bushenyi, Ibanda, Isingiro, Kazo, Kiruhura, Mbarara, Mitooma districts.
He is emphasizing the respect for covid-19 guidelines although the supporters gather without any social distancing and not even face masks. 'To those who lined up along the roads to welcome me, thank you so much, I would be happier if you took more caution in light of our health guidelines,' Museveni said while in Mbarara.
