Bagosora afungiye muri gereza yo muri Mali aho ari kurangiza igifungo yakatiwe cy’imyaka 35, nyuma yo guhamywa ibyaha bya Jenoside.

Minisiteri y’Ubutabera ibinyujije kuri Twitter yavuze ko yakiriye neza uyu mwanzuro wo gukomeza gufunga uyu mugabo ‘wakoze ibyaha ndengakamere’.

Minisiteri y’Ubutabera yakomeje itangaza ko ibyaha bya Bagosora bikomeye ku buryo bitari bikwiye ko arekurwa.
Iti “Ibyaha bya Bagosora birakomeye ku rwego ndengakamere, bitari ukubera gusa ko ari ibya kinyamaswa ahubwo ari ukubera akaga byateje ndetse n’uruhare rukomeye yagize nk’umwe mu bacurabwenge b’umugambi wa Jenoside yakorewe Abatutsi. Iyo bitaza kuba ibikorwa bye, byashobokaga ko ibyabaye byari gukumirwa.”
Icyemezo cyo kwanga kurekura Bagosora mbere y’igihe, Umucamanza Carmel Agius yavuze ko yagishingiye ku kuba ko nta gihamya cy’uko uyu mugabo yahindutse ndetse yemeza ko nawe ubwe ko atabigaragaza. Yavuze kandi ko atewe impungenge n’uko agaragazwa nk’umuntu “udashoboye kwigenzura”.

The GoR has repeatedly urged the IRMCT to consider that one of the critical factors in assessing a request for early release is “the gravity of the crime or crimes for which the prisoner was convicted”.

Bagosora’s crimes were grave in the extreme, not only because of their heinousness, but because of the devastation they precipitated and his key role as a mastermind of genocide against Tutsi. Were it not for his actions, the worst might well have been avoided.
