The book is now available on the Valer publishing website and on Amazon.
Manaus (AM) â" The official launch of the book 'Cities we have, Cities we want â" Ideas and Solutions for a Better Future', authored by Marcellus Campêlo, secretary of the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) of the Government of Amazonas, by the publisher Valer, takes place next Tuesday (20), at 6pm, in the Solimões Hall of Palácio Rio Negro.
The book contains a collection of 70 articles published by him in media outlets in the North region. It marks the beginning of the author's career as a columnist, an activity he continues to pursue today, with regular weekly publications.
Sanitation specialist, Marcellus Campêlo addresses this topic in the book, as well as others with which he works or has expertise, through the works and projects he leads at UGPE, such as the environment and sustainability, climate conditions, urbanization and housing, transport and mobility.
The chapters of the book are separated by these themes, also including a specific part on the Environmental Sanitation programs of Manaus and Interior (Prosamin+) and Integrated Sanitation (Prosai), in addition to Ilumina+ Amazonas, which are developed by UGPE. It also deals with employment and income, gender equality and diversity, institutional partnerships and relations with the community, themes that are also included, in some way, in the actions carried out by the body.
The 222-page book was published by Valer and Três Comunicação e Marketing. It is now available on the website www.editoravaler.com.br and on Amazon.
'It is a revised collection of articles that I have been publishing since November 2021, when I set out to exercise this challenge which is to translate into words the readings I have done on topics that affect cities around the world and the experiences I have had as a manager, at UGPE. I especially thank Governor Wilson Lima, for his trust in my work to carry out projects that are so strategic and important for the state', reported the author. 'It's challenging, but also very rewarding,'
he added.
In the presentation of the book, the state secretary of Culture and Creative Economy, Marcos Apolo Muniz, mentions that the publication deals with clarity and didacticism on topics that are on the agenda of the country and the world.
'Among them, the challenges for the universalization of basic sanitation services in Brazil and the search for sustainability as a necessary path to be followed by everyone on the planet. And it draws attention to the importance of having a holistic view of cities, planning them for the future and reconnecting people with the spaces where they live',
observed.
Marcos Apolo highlighted that the work provides a rescue, 'an overview of major themes and questions that move us today, about which he makes lucid considerations, with detailed and precise data'.
The preface is signed by the doctor in Socio-Environmental Development, José Alberto da Costa Machado. He says that, when reading all the articles in the book, he realized that he was faced with a dense and well-articulated kaleidoscope of themes that were extremely relevant and current for the interests of society. 'I was able to identify and admire an exuberant agenda of issues of great importance to the challenges of the population and those in government. Texts written in a didactic manner, in simple language, based on data, with clear reasoning and an abundance of application examples', he assessed.
